WHAT IS PRAYER? Prayer is talking to God. It is a relationship with God. It is an investment in God’s Kingdom. In due time you will reap dividends from your investment. HOW DO WE PRAY? You pray His will in faith. WHERE DO WE FIND HIS WILL? God’s will is written in His Word. Hear it, read it, meditate on it, believe it, speak it & act upon it. WHAT MAKES OUR PRAYERS POWERFUL? Righteousness. The prayer of a righteous man. PRAYER THAT PLEASES GOD: God takes delight in the prayer of the upright. PRAYER THAT IS AN ABOMINATION TO GOD: if we turn a deaf ear to the law, even our prayers are detestable. (Proverbs 28:9).
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their minds & write them on their hearts. I will be their God, & they will be My people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying: Know the Lord, because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:10-11). If our hearts are not changed, following God's rules will be unpleasant & difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live the Christian way. The Holy Spirit, however, gives us new desires, helping us wanting to obey God. With new hearts, hearts of flesh & not hearts of stone, we will find that serving God is our greatest joy. Under God's new covenant, God's law is inside us & not outside, ie, on a tablet of stone. No, it's written in our hearts. It is no longer an external set of rules & principles.
