Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me & hear my prayer. (Psalm 4:1). God has given us an assurance of answered prayer. It says: Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask & you will receive, & your joy will be complete. (John 16:24). How do we pray:
* We ask in the name & authority of Jesus Christ.
* We pray according to the will of God.
Where do we find the will of God from? The will of God is recorded in the Bible, the Word of God. Thus, in essence, we pray the Word of God in faith. Why in faith? Because faith connects us to God. Faith pleases God. Faith is the basis in which the Kingdom of God operates. Without faith, we cannot receive anything from God. Faith brings down what is in the spirit realm to the physical realm. Faith influences God to ACT. God rewards acts of faith. He honors faith the most. How does faith come to us? It comes by hearing the Word of God or the message of Christ. This means that for faith to come to us we need to have a Bible reading, & meditation of the Word culture. We need to meet God in His Word daily & obey its principles. Is there a kind of faith that God wants us to have? Yes, faith which works through love. Why love? God is love & love is the central message of Christianity. The Bible says: Do everything in love. So to have a fruitful prayer life we need to KNOW the Word, PRAY the Word, BELIEVE the Word, SPEAK the Word & OBEY the Word. Why speak the Word? It is important after prayer. Your faith can only go as HIGH as the level of your confession. If you confess negatively, your faith will not remain alive or active. It will be weakened. If your faith is weakened, your prayers will be hindered. Many churches hold regular all night prayer sessions. This is good. We make breakthrough's during the time of prayer but only for a short time. Why for a short time? What we speak after the all night prayer meeting is not consistent with the Word of God. So we miss out there. Unfruitfulness takes precedence under such circumstances. Prayer of faith changes our circumstances. It moves mountains. They are three ways in which we speak in situations:
* Speak to God.
* Speak to the people.
* Speak to the mountain. Tell it to MOVE in Jesus name & in faith. Are there any hindrances to prayer? Yes.
* God is pleased with the prayer of the upright. (Proverbs 15:8 b). If you are not upright He is not pleased with your prayer. Do you think that He will answer you if He is not pleased with you?
* If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable. (Proverbs 28:9). If you do not obey God & His Word, your prayers are detestable to God. They are an abomination to Him. Again, if your prayers are detestable to God, do you think He will answer them? Food for thought. What makes our prayers powerful & effective? Righteousness. The Bible says: The prayer of a righteous man is powerful & effective. (James 5:16 b). If we are not living righteous lives, our prayers will be weak. They won't avail much. Your righteous life gives your words greater impact. Is there any prayer which is automatic & which overrides the above? Yes, a CRY for MERCY. This is answered automatically. Prayer: Son of David, Son of David, have mercy on us. Have mercy on your church. Have mercy on your people. Let your mercy locate us. Let your mercy speak for us. In Jesus name we pray & believe, Amen. Good morning Holy Spirit. Heaven Rules.
