How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts & everyday have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me & answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or i will sleep in death; my enemy will say: I have overcome him & my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me. (Psalm 13:1-6). The psalmist was in this situation of despair & prayed this prayer. Prayer is not time bound, when you are in a situation, you can still pray it, it works. The psalmist was praying for relief from despair. We must continue to trust God even when  He doesn't answer us immediately. What is prayer? Prayer is two fold: Firstly: Prayer is a direct COMMUNICATION with God; talking to God. Secondly: It is a RELATIONSHIP with God. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful & effective.  How do we pray? We pray according to the will of God. Where do we find the will of God from? The will of God is recorded in the Bible, the Word of God. What makes our prayers powerful? Being righteous, upright & praying in faith. Faith makes all things possible. God is pleased with the prayer of the UPRIGHT. (Proverbs 15:8 b). The prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man is powerful & effective.  (James 5:16 b). Are there any hindrances to prayer? Yes. If anyone turns a DEAF ear to the LAW, even his prayers are detestable. This means that if we choose not to obey God & His Word in total, when we pray in that state, our prayers are detestable to God. Prayers made under such circumstances cannot be answered.  Maybe SATAN can answer them since you will be serving his interests. But God has said NO through His Word to prayers made under such circumstances. Note: Whatever comes from satan will give you sorrows. You will not have peace & real joy. AFTER A PRAYER SESSION: Wait in the attitude of faith, obedience, patience & peace. Mind your speech. Do not speak negatively as this will weaken your faith & ultimately affect your prayer. Most people miss the mark because of what they do after prayer than what they do during the prayer itself. Remember, your faith can only go as HIGH as the level of your confession. Faith must be lived by, & faith must be confessed. Food for thought. Prayer: Father, we are your people, we are Christ's church, give us relief from despair. Strengthen our faith & give us hope. Deliver us from our enemies, situations & circumstances. Let your light shine in our paths, so that darkness will disappear. Send all forms of help to your children. Assign your angels to minister to the needs of your people. Restore them. Help them to have a Bible reading & meditation of the Word culture. Make them obedient to You & to Your Word.  Transform their lives & renew their minds with the Word of God. Fill them with the Holy Spirit. Influence them to be led by Him.
