One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, & spent the night praying to God. When morning came, He called His disciples to Him & chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles: Simon whom He named Peter, his brother Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Mathew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, Judas son of James, & Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. (Luke 6:12-16). The Gospel writers note that before every important event in Jesus' life, He took time to go off by Himself & pray. This time Jesus was preparing to choose His inner circle, the 12 disciples. Make sure that all your important decisions are grounded in prayer. David followed a similar pattern. Before he went to war, he would first enquire from the Lord whether to go or not. This is what we need to do as Christians. Let us pray to God before making important decisions. Let us pray His will for the particular situation. What is prayer? Prayer is talking to God. Prayer is also a relationship with God. God takes delight in the prayer of the upright. (Proverbs 15:8 b). How do we pray? We pray His will for the situation in FAITH. Where do we find His will? It is recorded in the Bible, the Word of God. Thus, we need to hear it, read it, study it, hide it in our hearts, meditate on it, & apply it to our lives daily. What does prayer do? Prayer changes our circumstances; it moves mountains, it shifts the focus, it changes the atmosphere, it tears apart the work of the devil, paralyzing his operations, it uproots that which God has not planted in our lives, etc. What makes our prayers powerful? Righteousness. The Bible says: The prayer of a righteous man is powerful & effective.  (James 5:16). How do we become righteous? We live by faith in Jesus Christ & God then credits our faith as righteousness. It is not a righteousness of our own that comes from the law, but that which is through FAITH in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God & is by faith. (Philippians 3:9). How do we get faith? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God or the message of Christ. Faith connects us to God. Without faith, we cannot receive anything from God. We pray His will in FAITH. Thank you Jesus. When praying is it the VOLUME of our voices that makes it powerful.  No, its His will, its our faith, obedience & righteousness that is key. You can pray softly but powerfully. You can make noise & just entertain yourself. Thank you Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, thank you for today's message. Thank you for giving us insight on prayer. Thank you for hearing & answering our prayers. Thank you for answering them speedily. Thank you for saving souls today. Thank you for healing people today. Thank you for delivering people today. Thank you for blessing your Church today & for protecting it.Thank you for filling us with your kind of faith, wisdom, power & revelation. In Jesus mighty name we pray, believe, & give you thanks, Amen. Grace & peace be with you.
