When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from Heaven & filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated & came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit & began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:1-4). This is a very touching sermon, let me pray so that the Holy Spirit will help me to bring clarity & balance. Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, guide my words so that I do not end up judging people. My role is to reconcile people back to God & not to judge them. So help me God. In Jesus name we pray, Amen. When the early church were filled by the Holy Spirit, they spoke in tongues. These were languages & not mere babbling of words or sounds, as is the case in some of our churches. God fearing Jews from every nation, each one heard them speaking in his own language & praising God. They knew these people to be Galileans & yet heard them speak in their languages & praising God. They were amazed & knew that it was God in action. Secondly, when people were filled by the Holy Spirit, they received POWER to witness Jesus Christ & Him crucified & resurrected to the remotest parts of the earth. They preached the Gospel, preached the Word, introduced people to Christ, led them to Christ & helped them to live this short life on earth for Christ.  All was about Christ & not their ministers or denominational churches, as is the case today. They did not root people in the doctrines, rules & regulations of their churches. They helped them to be ROOTED in Christ, the living Word & in the BIBLE, the written Word. Thirdly,  when they were filled by the Holy Spirit they became united & spoke with one voice. They were not divided & fragmented as what has happened to the church today. The Bible calls us to maintain unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We are doing the opposite. We are dividing people & thriving on divisions. Lord help us. Fourthly, when the people were filled by the Holy Spirit, they became SELFLESS & not selfish. They were together & had everything in common. They helped other believers who had need. Sharing among believers became the order of the day in their ministry. Our present day Holy Spirit is operating in a manner that is not Scriptural. Brothers, sisters & fellow ministers, i urge you to do an introspection of yourselves. Check your spirit & your tongues, if they are in line with the Word of God. They could be a contrary spirit, a spirit of divination or a religious spirit. Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with God. Thank you Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, I rebuke the counterfeit  spirit which is operating in some of your churches. I paralyze its operations & uproot it in Jesus name. I pray that you fill your church worldwide with the Holy Spirit of TRUTH. He operates strictly in accordance with your Word. Let the fruit of the Spirit increase in our lives. Restore power & glory in your church today. Your Word says: The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power. Confirm this Scripture in the life of your church today.
