After the men had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them & said: Men you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage & loss. (Acts 27:21). Why would Paul, a prisoner, & under guard, talk to the crew this way? Paul was NOT taunting them with an I TOLD YOU SO attitude, but was reminding them that, with God's guidance, he had predicted this very problem. He had said: Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous & bring great loss to ship & cargo, & to our lives also. (see Acts 27:10). The crew ignored or disregarded his advice & suffered consequences of their actions. In future, the crew listened to Paul & their lives were spared because of his revelation. (see Acts 27:30-32). Paul had a spirit of wisdom & a spirit of revelation operating in him. He gave the crew, & those aboard the ship guidance from the Lord & everyone reached the land in safety. (see Acts 27:33-44). Thank you Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, give us the grace not to despise prophetic utterances. Help us to respect your anointing on others, whether young or old. Help us not to despise people because of their status, background, race, nationality, etc. They may have the words of wisdom which could give us breakthrough, victory & success. From today's reading we see that the crew were warned of the dangers they were going to face, but they ignored him. They said, I would like to believe: What can this prisoner tell us? But what they overlooked was that the prisoner had Your anointing. The anointing makes the difference. Father, I thank you for later on the crew listened to Paul & everyone reached the land in safety. Praise you Jesus. Help us respect the anointing of God on people & our burdens will be removed, & our yokes will be destroyed. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen. God bless you all.
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their minds & write them on their hearts. I will be their God, & they will be My people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying: Know the Lord, because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:10-11). If our hearts are not changed, following God's rules will be unpleasant & difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live the Christian way. The Holy Spirit, however, gives us new desires, helping us wanting to obey God. With new hearts, hearts of flesh & not hearts of stone, we will find that serving God is our greatest joy. Under God's new covenant, God's law is inside us & not outside, ie, on a tablet of stone. No, it's written in our hearts. It is no longer an external set of rules & principles. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Christ's words, activates our ...
