But just as you excel in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness & in your love for us - see that you also excel in this grace of giving. I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. (2 Corinthians 8:7-8). The Corinthian believers excelled in everything - they had faith, good preaching (speech),  much knowledge,  much earnestness,  much love. Paul wanted them to also be leaders in giving. Genuine Christian life looks for someone to help. It is selfless & not selfish. Giving is a natural response of love. Those whom God has entrusted them with compassionate ministry are very loving people. They love God a lot & love people a lot. Their love is deep. Giving is sharing. They share a lot of what they have with others. Paul did not command the Corinthian church to give, but he encouraged them to prove that their love was sincere. When you love someone,  you want to give him or her your time, your attention & to provide for his or her needs. If you refuse to help sacrificially, or part with some of your wealth for others in need, your love is not as genuine as you say. Thank you Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, fill us with Your kind of love. Make us loving & humble. Give us the grace to help others in love, humility,  simplicity & for the glory of God. Give us the grace to give generously if we have the worldly goods & to give sacrificially if we do not have them. Let our giving bring all the glory & praise to God. Send your angels to minister to our needs. Our prayers which we have prayed, let them receive answers. In Jesus mighty name we pray, believe, & give you thanks,  Amen. God bless you all.
