I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ & be found in Him, not having righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God & is by faith. (Philippians 3: 8b -9). After Paul considered everything he had accomplished in his life, he said that it was a loss when compared with the greatness of knowing Christ. We must not place anything above our relationship with Christ. Paul gave up everything, in order to know Christ & His resurrection power. We too have access to His knowledge & this power. No amount of law keeping, self-improvement, discipline, or religious effort can make us right with God. Righteousness comes only from God. We are made righteous by faith in Christ. He exchanges our sin & shortcomings for His complete righteousness. Thank you Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, i pray that you remove anything in our lives that we have placed above our relationship with Christ. Reorder our priorities in Jesus name. Give us the grace to give up everything in order to know Christ. Help us to set aside a few minutes each day for prayer & Bible study. In Jesus mighty name we pray & believe, Amen. God bless you all.
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their minds & write them on their hearts. I will be their God, & they will be My people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying: Know the Lord, because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:10-11). If our hearts are not changed, following God's rules will be unpleasant & difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live the Christian way. The Holy Spirit, however, gives us new desires, helping us wanting to obey God. With new hearts, hearts of flesh & not hearts of stone, we will find that serving God is our greatest joy. Under God's new covenant, God's law is inside us & not outside, ie, on a tablet of stone. No, it's written in our hearts. It is no longer an external set of rules & principles.
