How do we read the Bible? Do we read it like a novel? NO, we must read the Bible devotionally, ie, with prayer. Prayer makes our hearts tender, we won't have a legalistic mind. Prayer also influences the Holy Spirit to open our minds to understand the Scriptures. Without the Holy Spirit guiding you, you will never have accurate knowledge. The Holy Spirit is the real author of the Bible. He knows the Word of God. As you read the Bible, you are reading the Holy Spirit. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty or freedom. The Holy Spirit is God in action. Regrettably, He is not received by the world. If you read the Bible without the help of the Holy Spirit, you will know the stories recorded in it, yes, but you will not know the God behind those stories. Your life will not change to be like Christ. I urge you: Be a true Christian first, ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit, meet Him in His Word daily; pray continually; meditate on & obey the Word. I can assure you that your life will never be the same again. You will grow spiritually & become like Christ. You will talk like Christ, walk like Christ, operate like Christ, be humble like Christ, etc. The Holy Spirit uses the Bible to transform our lives & renew our minds. Grace & peace be with you.

If our hearts are not changed, following God's rules will be unpleasant & difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live the Christian way. The Holy Spirit, however, gives us new desires, helping us wanting to obey God. With new hearts, hearts of flesh & not hearts of stone, we will find that serving God is our greatest joy. Under God's new covenant, God's law is inside us & not outside, ie, on a tablet of stone. No, it's written in our hearts. It is no longer an external set of rules & principles. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Christ's words, activates our ...
