Beyond all questions, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. (1 Timothy 3:16). Paul affirms the humanity & divinity of Jesus Christ. By so doing he reveals the heart of the Gospel, the mystery of godliness, the secret of how we become godly. Appeared in a body - affirms that Jesus was a man; Jesus incarnation is the basis of our being right with God. Was vindicated by the Spirit - Jesus' resurrection showed that the Holy Spirit's power was in Him. (see Romans 8:11). Was seen by angels & was taken up in glory - Jesus is divine. Was preached among the nations - The early church preached the Word of God; preach the resurrection of Jesus. He is the living Word, the Bible is the written Word. Was believed on in the world - people responded to the Gospel preached to them by believing the resurrection of Christ. We can't please God on our own; we must depend on Christ. He is the only way to the Father. He is the mediator between God & man. He is our Savior, Healer, Deliverer, etc. As a man, Jesus lived a perfect life, & so He is a perfect example of how we should live as Christians. As God, Jesus gives us the power to do what is right. It is possible to live a godly, righteous, holy life, etc, through Christ. Prayer, Father, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for letting Him die for our sins on the cross. Through His death & resurrection, today we are now reconciled back to You, our Maker. We thank you for the mystery of godliness. May you give us the grace to understand this mystery. May you help us to win souls for You & to disciple them. We set our eyes on Jesus, the author & finisher of our faith. Help us to be doers of the Word of God. In Jesus mighty name we pray & believe, Amen. God bless you all.

I will be their God, & they will be My people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying: Know the Lord, because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:10-11). If our hearts are not changed, following God's rules will be unpleasant & difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live the Christian way. The Holy Spirit, however, gives us new desires, helping us wanting to obey God. With new hearts, hearts of flesh & not hearts of stone, we will find that serving God is our greatest joy. Under God's new covenant, God's law is inside us & not outside, ie, on a tablet of stone. No, it's written in our hearts. It is no longer an external set of rules & principles. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Christ's words, activates our ...
