For the living know they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward & even the memory of them is forgotten. (Ecclesiastes 9:5). Many Christians & pastors do not understand the condition of the dead. At funeral services I hear them make speeches like: Sister, go well. Look after your children. Go where? This is not something like a 100 km journey. When the spirit departs, it simultaneously appears before God. It's not like the dead will go on a 3 hour journey before they reach God. They can't look after anyone. It is written: Their love, their hate & their jealousy have long since vanished. Never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:6). Food for thought. Prayer: Father I thank you for Jesus. You are the same yesterday, today & forevermore. Forgive us our sins. Wash us by the blood of Jesus. Help us to understand the condition of the dead so that we will not expect to be looked after by them. I assign angels under our complement to minister to our needs. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.  Immanuel: God with us.
